 The Hawaiian
Star pattern was designed for Foundation Paper
Piecing. This pattern includes all of the foundation papers needed
to complete the 85" x 85" quilt. In her latest creation,
Judy Niemeyer has adapted the traditional Lone Star pattern into a
masterpiece for foundation paper piecing. By blending color,
texture, and value when selecting fabrics to use for the quilt,
Judy successfully achieved a bright, bold, and dramatic look,
reminiscent of Hawaiian culture and tradition. A collection of
Hoffman Bali Batiks inspired the tropical setting for the Hawaiian

 Bird
of Paradise
The Bird of Paradise was a collaboration of three individuals
combining their ideas and talents to create a traditional layout
for the Bird of Paradise Flowers using foundation paper. The
quilt shown on the cover sheet was made by Sheryl Mycroft and Judy
Niemeyer using fabrics donated and designed by Island Batik, Inc.
The fabrics for this quilt were chosen from a variety of
jewel-toned
fabrics. Blending fabrics in value with neighboring colors for the
different units will add interest to your quilt. It is important
that you keep a strong accent between the background fabric and
the fabrics chosen for your center spikes, flowers, and pieced
borders. The quilt on the cover uses a large variety of jewel tone
fabrics in each color family. Don't be afraid to mix fabrics!

Jax Flash
Jumping Jax Flash was created using the corner papers
from the Mariner's Star. Bradley designed a spiky border to fit
between the stars around the edge of the quilt. The quilt was
designed for  foundation
paper piecing. The foundation units are very simple to master and
fit together with simplicity. This pattern includes instructions
and yardage requirements for the quilt shown on the cover sheet
plus four additional sizes. If you choose to make a larger quilt

Mountain Thornbush
The Rocky Mountain Thornbush was designed using foundation blocks
based on a traditional block known as the Crown of Thorns. Hoffman
Fabrics of California designed and furnished the fabrics for the
quilt shown on the cover page.
Rocky Mountain Thorn Bush was designed and printed for
foundation paper piecing. Four foundation units are used to

by 29" without the border. With very little
effort it is easy to come up with striking images, all using the
simple paper piecing method. If you are not acquainted with the
paper piecing method, this pattern will lead you through it, step
by step, with many digital pictures illustrating how it is done. A
very good pattern for the beginning paper piecing student.
Once you start 
paper piecing, you will want to do all your quilt tops this way.

Sundance
Based on a traditional block known as the Crown of Thorns,
Sheryl Mycroft designed the setting and made the quilt shown
using fabrics designed by Island Batiks, Inc. The simplicity of
this design along with the large variety of fabric used to create
the color scheme should make this quilt fun and exciting for all

 Fourth
of July
Brad and Judy Niemeyer designed the setting for the 4th of July. A
collection of bright, medium, and dark batiks designed by Hoffman
Fabrics of California were used to make the quilt shown on the
cover. This quilt was designed for foundation paper piecing.
Curved piecing and traditional piecing are required to join the
units after the foundation piecing is completed. The pattern was
written with beginners in mind and has many illustrations and
graphics which complement the written instructions. The pattern is
also fun, using special cutting techniques which are explained in
the instructions. Veteran paper piecers will also find the pattern
interesting, allowing them to use their imagination in color
selection to make their own version of the 4th of July!
