This teaching pattern was designed as a class project. Exact
measurements are not only given in the directions, but the way to find
those measurements is also explained. You will not cut your strips in
the beginning of the project as you normally do, but will cut them
along the way as each step is explored. Topics covered include:
straight of grain/bias, accurate cutting, how to get an accurate 1/4"
seam, how to make a half square triangle, how to make a quarter square
triangle, twirling the seams to reduce bulk, chain piecing, easing a
block component to make sure the block is square, squaring up your
top, setting a block (or quilt) on point, adding a mitered border,
adding a flange, measuring a border so the quilt lays flat and

 Geraniums

This quilt pattern by Horizon
Quilt Patterns is made using "Raw Edge Appliqué".
The technique involves placing the applique pieces, cut without seam
allowances, on the surface of the quilt and anchoring them by
machine using a zigzag stitch. After the quilt is sandwiched with
the batting and backing extensive quilting embellishes the quilt and
further anchors the individual pieces. The pattern can also be used
for needle turn appliqué or fusible applique. Level of difficulty:
Beginner: If you use fusible appliqué techniques. Intermediate: If
you are using the raw edge technique and embellishing the quilt.
Experienced: If you use needle turn appliqué. The finished

Summer
This quilt pattern by Horizon
Quilt Patterns contains instructions for two quilts, a LAP
QUILT and a BED QUILT. The construction techniques are
straight forward and consist mainly of straight line piecing,
making this an easy quilt to construct. A prominent feature of
this quilt is that it is made using only three fabrics.
This pattern also contains extensive stencils for free-motion
quilting. The quilt stands alone as an attractive quilt without the
stencils but it becomes spectacular when the free-motion quilting is
added. The back becomes almost a pretty as the front.
Degree of difficulty levels are - Experienced: If you do the
free-motion quilting. Beginner: If you use stitch-in-the-ditch
quilting

Ladder (or the Road to...)
This classic design has been called by many names. In 1915, Marie Webster referred to it as Jacobs Ladder. In 1929, Ruth Finley called
it The Underground Railroad. This wasn't unusual - there were no quilting or needlework magazines as we know them today. Although
some 19th century
 womens
magazines did show geometric designs for patchwork, they were rarely named. The names we use today for most quilt blocks have a 20th
century origin - the newspaper circulation wars of the 1930's. In that war, this design found itself recolored and renamed the Rocky
Road to California, the Broken Sugar Bowl, Steps to the Altar, Golden Stairs and many more. This pattern includes two of the most
