This flag finishes to 13 x 18. You will need one
fat quarter of each color.
Start by cutting your red and white fat quarters into 1
1/2" strips by 18" long. You will need 7 strips of the
red, and 6 of the white.
Cut your field of stars (use white stars on a blue
ground if possible) to 7 1/2" x 8 1/2".
Cut your gold into 1 1/4" strip. It doesn't
have to be on the diagonal unless you are planning to subject this quilt
to heavy use.
Sew 3 strips of red and 3 strips of white together in
alternating rows. Press to the dark. This strip should be
18" long.
Sew 4 strips of red and 3 strips of white together in
alternating rows. (Start with the red.) Press to the dark.
Cut this strip 10 1/2" long. Sew your field of stars to the
left side of this and press to the dark. This piece should now be
18" long. Sew this piece to the strips you just made.
Press to the dark and trim any edges.
You are done! Bat, back and quilt as
desired. Use the gold for binding.
Enjoy!
