 Chenille By The Inch™

Now you can have the look and feel of chenille without all the hassle.  With the phenomenally easy-to-use Chenille By The Inch™,you can quickly and simply embellish everything from quilts to bath towels to wearables with guaranteed perfect-every-time chenille strips.  It's easy to use, too!  The pictures below are thumbnails, click on them to see them close up.  To order Chenille by the Inch:

Here is how to use Chenille by the Inch

Chenille by the Inch Step OneFirst you remove and discard the tear-away backing.  To remove backing, hold both sides of Chenille By The Inch™ fabric with the thumbs at the center stitch line, and gently pull by rolling the wrists outward. The backing will separate at the stitch line. Work the center stitch line, then progress from the center out to the sides. The object of this step is just to part the stabilizer at the stitch lines, not actually remove it.  Next, beginning at the center, pull off a strip of stabilizer longways. Continue pulling off strips from the center outwards, removing every other strip. The remaining strips will then be even easier to remove.  If you experience excessive static cling while removing backing, try wiping the backing with an anti-cling sheet as used with clothes dryers.

Chenille by the Inch Step TwoCut Chenille By The Inch™ into long strips by centering a straight edge between the stitching lines and cutting with a rotary cutter.

Chenille by the Inch Step ThreeMark design on base fabric.  Back-tack a strip of Chenille By The Inch at the beginning of strip, and machine stitch along the stitching line.

To achieve a continuous line of chenille, as you complete each strip, overlap the end of a new strip 1/4 inch, back-tack, and continue sewing.

Chenille by the Inch Step FourBrush sewn Chenille By The Inch™ with a Chenille Brush™ until edges begin to fray.  Using a spray bottle, dampen sewn strips with water, and brush again to fluff chenille.  Because of minerals and chlorine (active ingredient in bleach) found in tap water, we encourage you to use distilled water when spritzing and brushing your sewn chenille strips. Also, there is no need to saturate the strips, just a light mist of water does the trick.  Launder the finished project to increase the fluff of the chenille.
