Here is the cutting diagram for the fat quarter. To make a 52" x
68" quilt using eight inch blocks, you will need about 20 fat
quarters.
|
|

|
Start by cutting your fat quarters as shown to the left.
Cut
your first strip 6" X 18". Cross cut it into 10
squares, with a 3" x 6" strip at one end. |
| Cut your second strip 6" x 18". Cross
cut it into six 3" x 6" strips. |
| Cut the next three strips 3" X 18". Cross cut into one 3" x 6" strip and five 3" x 9"
strips. |
Put your strips into piles by size.
Mix them up and
pull them at random to strip piece the block. |
|

|
<---First,
piece 48 sets of (2) 3" x 3" blocks.
Next
add strips two -->
|
<-- and three, then finish like a log cabin --> |
Mix them up once again, then sew six blocks across and eight
down. Add a two inch border if you like, then Quilt as Desired!
