Wreathmaker is an EQ4 tool that takes a design and
replicates it in a circle. You can use one of the applique shapes in the Block
Library, use some of the shapes from the shape tools flyout menus or creating
your own. For more information, see the step by step instructions are in the
Design Cookbook, pages 130 through 137.
To use a motif in a wreath start by getting the motif
block from the Block Library, then putting it in your sketchbook. Open the
sketchbook, click on the motif block to select it and click "edit"
to put it on your worktable. Make sure you are using just the motif, not a
block with the outside square. If you do use a block, then before you wreath,
select only the applique inside the block. You do not want to wreath the
outside square, so you don't want that outside square selected.
Click on the motif you have chosen to select it,
right click and choose "wreathmaker" to make the wreath. To color it
click the color tab. Your "Fabric and Color" Window will
automatically appear. Click the "Spraycan". Press and hold down the
"SHIFT" Key on your keyboard before you select the first patch and
hold it down while selecting other patches. Make sure the outline of the block
doesn't get selected as well. With your mouse, point and click on the patches
you want to color the same. They will have a highlight around all of the
patches you click on. You can select any shape or size. It does not matter
whether they have color or not. Select a color from the "Fabric and
Color" window. All the patches you chose will now be the same color.
For more information, go to "Coloring Multiple Patches" in Help.

How can I turn a Dresden Plate block into an applique?
The Dresden Plate blocks in EQ are pieced. So you'll have to draw your
plate in PatchDraw in order to get the appliqué motif you want. Don't worry
about dividing a circle evenly into 12 segments in PatchDraw. (You can do that
only in EasyDraw.) Instead, draw one petal of your Plate in PatchDraw. Make it
stand vertically (straight up and down). Be careful to draw this petal so the
angle of the sides will be the angle you need to get the petals to fit
together.
Your imported picture should help here. Select the petal with the Select
tool and then right click on the petal. On the pop-up menu, click on
Wreathmaker. Choose 12 for the Number of Clusters. You may have to
adjust the Cluster spacing and Resize Cluster numbers to keep your petals
separate from each other once you have completed the wreathing. Trial and
error works well with Ctrl+Z to undo the trial.
Click your cursor away from the wreath you just created in order to clear
the cursor. Now click on each petal and bring it toward the center so you can
create your Dresden Plate. If you have the Advanced Drawing Features enabled,
you will want to click on Auto Align Similar Lines tool to get the petals to
snap together.
You can now add your stem and leaves. You may have to resize the Plate to
fit on the block. To make this into an appliqué motif, select the outline
border of the block and click on the Delete key on your keyboard. Save in
Sketchbook. You may want to add this block to My Library now. Then you can
retrieve it for any project in the future.
